The 52nd Academy of Country Music Awards are
right around the corner, and though performances by stars like Lady
Antebellum and Little Big Town may be reason enough for fans to tune in,
artists and their supporters alike are waiting eagerly to hear whose
musical talent will be honored with ACM's album of the year award.
This year's nominees promise an interesting race. Miranda Lambert, who has yet to leave empty-handed after receiving the nomination in this category, could take home the award for a fifth time with her album “The Weight of These Wings.” However, ACM's new female vocalist of the year winner, Maren Morris, may pull off her first album of the year win with “Hero," which was nominated for best country album at this year's Grammys. Also competing for the title are Dierks Bentley’s “Black,” “Dig Your Roots” by Florida Georgia Line and Keith Urban’s “Ripcord," which also received a Grammy nomination.
To better understand the ranks of legendary country artists that this year’s winner will join, PrettyFamous, an entertainment data site by Graphiq, gathered all of the previous ACM album of the year winners since the award was first presented in 1967.
From classics like Alabama’s “Roll On,” to more recent winners such as Taylor Swift’s “Fearless,” here’s the full list of the ACM's album of the year award recipients for you to look back on in preparation for the April 2 show.
