A 15-year-old Gaithersburg girl who was slain in a gang-related
case was held against her will and assaulted before she was killed in a
Virginia park, police said Wednesday. Ten people, four adults and six
juveniles, are believed to have been involved in the murder of Damaris
A. Reyes Rivas, Fairfax County police said. Nine suspects are in custody
and have been charged with abduction and gang participation. Police
said Damaris, who left her Montgomery County home in December, was
likely killed around Jan. 8 in Lake Accotink Park in Springfield. Police
found her body near the park over the weekend. Police would not
identify which gang is suspected in the slaying, but Damaris’s mother,
